Free HTML check

Unsubscribe link checker

Paste the HTML. A word in the footer is not enough. The link has to go somewhere, or the file has to carry your ESP’s tag.

The HTML stays in your browser. Link and image addresses are requested so a 404 shows up here.

Report

The report lands here.

Paste one email. You get the clip size, the inbox line, and which addresses do not open.

The word and the tag are different

A footer that says “unsubscribe” with href="#" will not unsubscribe anyone. A plain URL you typed will not use the ESP’s list either. Each ESP replaces its own tag at send time. This page looks for that tag, and for a visible link whose href is a real URL or a merge tag.

It does not call Mailchimp or Klaviyo. It cannot know if the tag will render for a given account. It can tell you the tag is missing from the file you are about to upload.

Tags this page recognizes

Mailchimp: *|UNSUB|*. Klaviyo: {% unsubscribe %}, {% unsubscribe_link %}, or {% manage_preferences %}. HubSpot: {{ unsubscribe_link }}. Brevo: {{ unsubscribe }}. ActiveCampaign: %UNSUBSCRIBELINK%. Omnisend: [[unsubscribe_link]].

If the file has one of those, the result names it. If the only unsubscribe is a link to a placeholder domain or to #, the result says the link goes nowhere. The template tester runs this together with size, preheader, and alt.

Why the ESP matters

A Mailchimp tag in a Klaviyo campaign is not a Klaviyo unsubscribe. It will ship as literal text or as nothing useful. Match the tag to the tool that sends the campaign.

Inside EmailStitch the active ESP changes this check: a Klaviyo connection expects the Klaviyo tag, not a generic word. That is the email template checker on the compiled file, per language. This page is the one-file version.

Questions

Is “Unsubscribe” in the footer enough?

Only if the href is a real unsubscribe URL or your ESP’s tag. Text with href="#" fails. Text with no link fails. The tag for a different ESP also fails, because the sender will not replace it.

Which Klaviyo unsubscribe tag does this accept?

{% unsubscribe %}, {% unsubscribe_link %}, {% unsubscribe_url %}, and {% manage_preferences %}. A Mailchimp *|UNSUB|* in a Klaviyo file is reported as Mailchimp, which is the wrong tag if Klaviyo is sending.

Does this confirm the link works in the live account?

No. It reads the HTML. It does not sign in to the ESP or click the link. A missing tag is visible here. A tag that the account has not enabled still needs a test send.
